The manufacturer of this piece of equipment was Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Company Ltd and it was built around 1905.

The portable transmitter and receiver is held in a polished teak case, size 44cm (17.5in) wide, 43cm (17in) high, with a drawer and hinged front. It has a range of approximately 12 miles, dependent on the type of aerial used and appears to have been suitable equipment for lifeboats. In order to send or transmit messages, an aerial and earth wire would be connected to the terminals.
